Linda Sacco
Linda Sacco was born January 10, 1950 and grew up in Hudson, NY where she skated at the Hudson Roller Rink all the time. After high school she attended Roller Derby Training School in Norwalk, CT. She was a natural on the banked track and was picked up by the Jolters and skated with them wearing the number 3 jersey. She wasn't with them long though because she was traded to the NY Chiefs where she wore jersey number 49 and skated with Bill Groll during introductions. She loved skating with the Chiefs. During the 1973 Gold Cup Championship series at Shea Stadium she was proclaimed Rookie of the Year! A few months later she received a serious shoulder injury which would eventually make her retire way too early from the banked track. However following surgery and months of rehab she began her college education and a career working with mentally and physically challenged people. Several times she would don her skates to entertain everyone at various events. Tragically Linda lost her life June 7, 1998 when her vehicle was struck by a train.
